Cisco I/O (Input/Output Controllers)

The 7200 Series router offers a choice of input/output (I/O) controllers that support a number of applications and enhance bandwidth and performance. The demand for high-speed land area network (LAN) connectivity while reducing the cost per port has steadily grown over the years, so I/O controllers address this issue perfectly. All I/O controllers provide an auxiliary port, a console port, environmental monitoring, fixed flash memory and 2 PCMCIA flash memory card slots. Some I/O controllers also offer Ethernet, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity without requiring a port adapter.
